Anderson localization in strongly coupled disordered electron-phonon systems
Based on the statistical dynamical mean field theory, we investigate, in a generic model for a strongly coupled disordered electron-phonon system, the competition between polaron formation and Anderson localization. The statistical dynamical mean field approximation maps the lattice problem to an ensemble of self-consistently embedded impurity problems. It is a probabilistic approach, focusing ...
متن کاملAlternative route to charge density wave formation in multiband systems.
Charge and spin density waves, periodic modulations of the electron, and magnetization densities, respectively, are among the most abundant and nontrivial low-temperature ordered phases in condensed matter. The ordering direction is widely believed to result from the Fermi surface topology. However, several recent studies indicate that this common view needs to be supplemented. Here, we show ho...
متن کاملComparative numerical study of Anderson localisation in disordered electron systems
Taking into account that a proper description of disordered systems should focus on distribution functions, the authors develop a powerful numerical scheme for the determination of the probability distribution of the local density of states (LDOS), which is based on a Chebyshev expansion with kernel polynomial refinement and allows the study of large finite clusters (up to 100). For the threedi...
متن کاملSuppression of Anderson localization in disordered metamaterials.
We study wave propagation in mixed, 1D disordered stacks of alternating right- and left-handed layers and reveal that the introduction of metamaterials substantially suppresses Anderson localization. At long wavelengths, the localization length in mixed stacks is orders of magnitude larger than for normal structures, proportional to the sixth power of the wavelength, in contrast to the usual qu...
متن کاملMott-Hubbard transition versus Anderson localization in correlated electron systems with disorder.
The phase diagram of correlated, disordered electron systems is calculated within dynamical mean-field theory using the geometrically averaged ("typical") local density of states. Correlated metal, Mott insulator, and Anderson insulator phases, as well as coexistence and crossover regimes, are identified. The Mott and Anderson insulators are found to be continuously connected.
